As my husband and I were driving the other day, we started compiling a list of ways we save money each month. Here are a few:
*Eat and use all leftovers
*Freezer cooking(watch for more info about freezer cooking-I love it because it saves me both time and money!)
*Limit how often we eat out(typically Sunday after church)
*Look for Dollar Menus when we do eat out(especially when we’re traveling)
*Pack our lunch for work and going to the lake/day trips
*Wash & Reuse ziploc bags(unless they were used for meat)
*Fill the dishwasher as full as possible before we run it
*Use handtowels or towels rather than always using paper towels
*Shop sales and use coupons
*Buy generics when they’re cheaper(most things we can’t tell the difference)
*Occasionally have meatless meals
*Shop at consignment/second-hand stores or garage sales
*Shop clearance isles
*Wear jeans/pants at least 2xs before washing(saves money & extends the life of our jeans)
*Do regular maintenance on our vehicles
*Drive older, well-kept vehicles which means no car payment and lower insurance
*Pay our credit card bill each month-don’t carry a balance=no interest fees or late fees
*Stock up when I find a great deal
*Shop clearance for toys(yes, I start Christmas shopping EARLY!)
*Buy greeting cards by the box or at Walmart-they actually have some fun, cute ones for under $.50!
*Plan shopping trips so I don’t use as much gas
*Look for free/cheap entertainment for our family
These are a few we thought of but there are plenty more. How does your family save money? Do you have any tips on lowering your monthly expenses?
