Monthly Spending Update

I just realized I didn’t give you guys the latest report of my weekly spending which ended my month.  I came within budget!  I had lowered my grocery/household budget to $160 per month and was successful!

Sept 11-17(I didn’t spend any the 18-19th & my budget starts over the 20th)

Target-$7.56-used a gift card from filling a new prescription.  Bought lunchmeat, small artisian breads(free), bread(free w/ coupon for buying lunchmeat), butter, frozen pizza, and string cheese(also free)

Walmart-$9.94-case for our GPS, licorice, stickers, bagel chips, tomatoes, green beans.  My mom was here so a few snacks were thrown in for my son.

Target-$10.52-lunchmeat, buns, block cheese, watermelon(for $1, they were marked down to $2, & I had the $1 off coupon from the home mailer), tampons, fruit snacks.

Great Clips Haircut $19

Weekly Total-$39.46

My total for the month was $158.07.

One thing I want to stress is don’t get caught up in comparing my weekly total to your family.  Your family’s needs are different than mine.  My husband doesn’t eat a lot of fresh produce(he’s a meat and potato man) so it’s just my 2 year old and myself eating the fresh veggies and fruit so I don’t have to buy as much.  I try to stock up here and there when meat is on sale.

When you look at my menu plan you’ll notice I’m not buying everything that week because I use things out of my freezer and pantry to complete the meals.

This month I used cash only and saw a huge difference.  I highly recommend withdrawing your amount for the month.  The visual was great for me because I could see that I had x amount left for each week.  I actually found myself putting a few items back because I knew they weren’t necessities and I didn’t have enough in my weekly budget.

How are you doing with your budget?  What ways do you reduce your monthly grocery bill?
