Saturday Spending Recap

by Danielle on October 3, 2009

Here’s a recap of where my weekly budget was spent and what I bought:

piggybank

Rancho Liborio-$5.26 (tomatoes, apples, limes, onions, garlic, sweet potatoes, carrots, pears, tortillas)

KingSooper $18.68 (crackers, cereal, bread, apples, pepperoni, lettuce, hot pockets, chocolate chips)

Albertsons $12.43-I learned a lesson in not planning ahead!  All I got was cayenne pepper, chili powder, onion powder, and sour cream.  It was a sad trip, but we were pressed for time.  I was cringing when I saw KS had all of the spices at a third of the cost…but stuff like that will happen!

Walgreens $2.80(toothbrush, autumn candy, shampoo, chapstick, prilosec, & razor) Got $13RR back.  I did 2 transaction there and was able to increase my savings because we have a flex plan so the prilosec went onto that card and the coupon for that was applied to the other items-I also used the $5 off $25 coupon for the first transaction then paid with RRs for the 2nd transaction.

Total for the week $39.17

There haven’t been a lot of meat sales lately, but thankfully my freezer is stocked.  I did pick up a rain check for the $.99lb ham at Albertsons so I’ll use that in the near future and will probably pick up some of the Buy 1, Get 2 sirloins this week.  They work great on the grill or sliced thin for stirfry or fajitas/quesadillas.

Hi Danielle,
I was reading your post about the spices and I thought I’d mention that cost plus world market sells most of their spices for 49 cents to $1.99 in little bags that I empty into small spice canisters. They have a pretty good variety too! By the way thanks again for the Walgreens advice, my last trip was much more successful!

Thanks Jen-I’ll have to check that out. I’m in need of a new spice rack/organizatioin system and have a couple spices I need for upcoming recipes this fall/winter. Glad to hear you had better luck at Walgreens!

I can COMPLETELY relate to not preparing and just buying. Your stomach gets all tight and you cant stop thinking about it. Last week my DH went shopping with me and he would just grab what he wanted. I seriously was sick having to pay full price for things! lol Well, I just wanted to say hi to my fellow Coloradoian :)

Blessings,
Andrea

It’s all part of a coupon addiction! Great site! Thanks for posting!
