Another Change with Target Coupons

Last week I informed you of Target’s change with their coupons.  It’s not a huge deal, but limits us a little.

As most of you know Target price matches competitors ads.  You have to go to customer service to do it and it’s kind of a hassel, but sometimes worth it.  You could also use a Target coupon and a manufacturer coupon on the price matched item after the price adjustment.

Times have changed.  Here is what the Target’s updated coupon policy says about using coupons and price matching:

Can I use coupons when price matching?

A guest can use coupons when price matching per Target’s normal coupon policy. When the guests presents a coupon(s), these steps will be followed:

Manufacturer Coupons:
Manufacturer coupons will be applied after the price match is made.

Target Coupons:
Target coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor’s price.

Combining both a Target and Manufacturer Coupons:
The Target coupon will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor’s price. Once the price match is made the manufacturer coupon will be applied.

Reminder: We accept one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item unless either coupon prohibits it.

Target does not ad match a competitors coupon-required offers.

This is a bummer.  The reason I usually price match at Target is to get the absolute best price by using the Target coupon and manufacturer coupon.

I told you all I finally price matched at Walmart last week and was very happy with how easy it was.  Much easier than Target.

On the bright side, I’m just thankful they’ll still accept both a Target coupon and a manufacturer coupon on most items.

Thanks for the heads up Tara!
