If you’ve been following my site for awhile now, you’ll remember me posting about the Nielsen Home Scan. Nielsen is a legit company who researches consumer spending, behaviors, and so on to help manufacturers determine what products to improve or develop. It’s a way to earn a little extra from home.
I had received my scanner and everything was going well. I actually enjoyed scanning the items knowing it was for research, however, Christmas came and I was feeling really overwhelmed with our trip(leaving a few days early didn’t help matters to beat the weather!). Once we got back I never got back into the groove of scanning and just recently sent my scanner back. So overall, it wasn’t for me at this point.
That doesn’t mean it’s not for some of you! If you’re interested in contributing to market research and influencing manufacturers sign up for Nielsen Home Scan today! You will earn points and the more faithful you are to submitting the information, the more points you’ll earn to redeem for prizes.
I found the scanner to be very easy to use. The set up was simple and the instructions were very clear. The scanner is just like a grocery store(hand-held) scanner which you use to scan the barcode. If you use a lot of coupons, you’ll have to enter a little more information so it takes a little more time. If you don’t use coupons, it’ll be a very easy and quick thing to record!
Tell All-Have any of you tried Nielsen Home Scan? If you have, are you satisfied with the process-was it worth your time for the available prizes?

I take all kinds of surveys online, but I just feel weird about letting someone know about everything I buy, so I haven’t wanted to try that one.
I got it and never even got it out of the box. I had every intention of doing it but had just started several other work from home jobs and just got overwhelmed and sent it back. By the way I am a Denver Mom and love your blog. My blog has legitimate work form home jobs( not scams or businesses that require investment) so if any of your readers are ever interested in this type of thing, feel free to refer them to my site. Thanks!
I have been scanning approximately three purchases a week but haven’t been committed enough to enter when picking up my daily coffee or when I purchase gas, clothes, eating out, etc. I’ve done a few surveys but it is hard to come home from work and want to scan the groceries that I picked up on my lunch break and then catch up on all my coupon clipping after my 18 month old son goes down for the night…so we’ll see. I think I’ll give it a few more months and see how much I’ll be able to get with my rewards and then decide.
Thanks for the input on this ladies!
Y’know.. I have the same issue. I had it, used it a few times before the holidays and decided it was a TON more work than what I’d like to be doing. I felt overwhelmed and put it in my car today to send back!
It is a great idea.. just not for me.
