Saturday Spending Recap-End of Last Month & Beginning of This Month’s Budget

by Danielle on February 20, 2010

Whew, last month ended going over my budget, however I was able to pull from other areas to compensate.  Our grocery/household budget was under by $13 last month, I received a $10 Kraft Rebate, and we were under for dining out by $23.  That $46 totally saved me!  Even without it my total spending was just under $200 which would have been about $50 per week.-not too shabby considering what we were able to buy!

Here is what I spent and where:

Safeway $20.69-trident layers, Refried Beans x2, dozen eggs, 1 gal milk, yoplait yo plus yogurt, California Kitchen Pizza x2, DiGiorno Flatbread Pizza x2, 3lbs ground turkey($.99lb!!), grapes, carrots

KingSooper $.50-green onion

KingSooper $9.02-I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter x2, Nestle Toll House Cookies x2, Kraft Cheddar Cheese Blocks x2, Kraft Cream Cheese x4, Green Giant Vegetables, Kix, Goldfishx2, Tampax x2, Sobex6

Rancho Liborio $8.75-avocados, jalapenos, red bell peppers, cilantro, red onion, roma tomatoes, limes, oranges, pears, garlic, cinnamon, strawberries, russet potatoes

Target $3.51-gum, garbanzo beans, scraper, method hand soapx2, pictureka travelx2, razorsx2

Rancho Liborio-$4.64 Red Bell Peppers, Lemons, Tomatillos, cucumbers, almonds, pears, oranges, green leaf lettuce.

Walmart-$9.62- Whole Wheat Flour, small package diapers, cocoa

Weekly Total-$56.73

Monthly Total-$198.35-$10 rebate-$13 last month’s extra-$23 dining out=$152.35

Overall it was a pretty good month.  I have a lot of food in the house!

February 20th-March 20th Budget

Today we went shopping for the start of this new budget.  We spent $39.97 total:

Safeway $16.01-Kraft singles, milk, Crest toothpastex2, Fryer Chickens x2, Tilapia Filletsx2 packages, 8lbs oranges(these weren’t in the best shape, but we’ll juice them for fresh oj in the mornings.

Target $23.96-Jumbo Box Diapers, Wipes, Bottle Liners(my baby is weaned, but won’t drink milk out of her sippy cup-she likes her Playtex Nurser Bottles which require the liners)

Weekly Total $39.97

Monthly Total $39.97

Diapers and wipes eat up a big chunk of my budget the first week of every budget cycle.  We usually buy one small package every other month as our backup if the big box doesn’t last us the month(which normally we are shy about 15-20 diapers).

What eats up most of your budget each month?  Does your family drink a ton of milk?  None of us in our family are huge milk drinkers, however it will go up as Abbie keeps drinking her milk-actually that little one in general is a good eater as she usually passes her brother up at the dinner table!  And yes, her arms show it!-but she’s healthy, adorable, and a sweetie!

Bella was the same way she LOVED her Playtex Nurser bottle. And they do tend to get expensive! :) Thank God those days are over, next is potty training (fun fun)
