Walgreens Question-Help A Reader Out!

by Danielle on April 22, 2010

Ryanne emailed asking:

Have you heard anything about the Walgreen’s in the DM area no longer taking 2 register rewards of the same value in a single transaction? I was told this by an asst. manager this morning and was wondering if anyone else has run into the same problem. In my 1.5 years of Wag’s couponing this is the first weirdo problem that I’ve had…

I haven’t been shopping at Walgreens a whole lot lately(mainly to cut down the number of trips since we have to drive a distance to get to the stores-the drug stores are definately the place to find some great couponing deals though!).  I don’t have the answer so I’m turning it over to you guys!

Can anyone help Ryanne out?  Thanks guys!  You all are truly amazing!  Denver Metro Moms would cease to exist if it weren’t for you all!

Ryanne~ I suggest first calling and speaking with the store manager. The assistant manager is flat out wrong. If the store manager is also “crazy” it would be a good time to put a call in to the district office.

I agree with Jennie – I would call the disctrict office and let them know about your encounter – they are wrong! I paid with 2 $2.50 register rewards (Kotex) earlier in the week without any problems. I cannot tell you how many times I have run into managers/assistant managers who know nothing about register rewards/catalinas and needless to say I do not shop at those store anymore.
Also, if you have questions about register rewards/catalinas, you can call them directly and they are usually very helpful.

Thanks, ladies! I ended up having them void the entire transaction and told them(maybe not so nicely) that I would just take my coupons to another location. Sure enough, they were honored without any issue. This is one of those times when it would be nice if Wag’s had a good corporate policy on coupons.

Ryanne–Also, I have had to visit several Walgreens in my area to find the one I LOVE. Now, I will only go to that location b/c they all know me, and are super coupon friendly! I always go to the same cosmetics manager who also coupons, so she knows the rules very well. So glad they worked it out for you!

Yup, I have a couple favorites as well. I usually try and go when the highschoolers are working in the evening, I find that they don’t scrutinize every.single.thing like some of the older ladies in the morning, lol. Not that I am using coupons fraudulently, but the scrutinizers like to think you are…

can I ask which store you guys go to?? Any chance they are close to Aurora?? I have some ok stores around but none the I LOOOVE….

I’m in Aurora, and my favorites are Tower and Iliff, and Tower and Hampden. Mississippi and Chambers can be good too, depending on who the cashier is at the time.

I have had great experiences with the store at University & Arapahoe in Centennial (across from Southglenn shopping center). My favorite cashier is an older guy named John and he will always help you out!
