Saturday Spending Recap-Week 2

by Danielle on May 1, 2010

This week I decided to just shop at one store.  I knew it would be a busy week and didn’t feel like running to several stores.

Target $42.55 Jumbo Box Up & Up Diapers $13.69, Huggies Swimmers(used $1 and $1.50 off coupon-$7.49), Romaine Hearts(3pk) $2.99, Roma Tomatoes $1.19, Chicken Deli Meat $1.45, Bananas $.94, 1 Gal Milk $1.89, Activia Yogurt $.97(used $1.00 off coupon), Mountain High 32oz yogurt(used $.50/1 coupon)$1.79, Kraft Cheese(used coupon) $1.39, Market Pantry Cheese $2.29, Land O Lakes Butter(used $.50/2 coupon)$3.50

If you look at the prices, you’ll notice I paid more for many of the items that I normally would, however, convenience and gas made up the difference in this situation!

Weekly Total $42.55

Monthly Total $92.23

I’ll get caught back up yet!  This week should be the week to do so!  I would have this past week, but wanted to take advantage of using both coupons for the Little Swimmers-thankfully we only have one in diapers!  We’ll be at the lake a lot so getting those on sale and spreading the cost through the summer will help!

Do you find yourself spending more through the summer or winter months?  For us it’s definately the summer months because we go to the lake often to jet ski.  However, we set aside money knowing we’ll have added expenses for summer recreation and vacations!

We definately spend more in the summer. It isn’t hard when I have four children, 3 typically in school. They have another month or so of school so I have been working on stockpiling things I know they go hrough like crazy! In addition,we make room in our budgets for a few trips to Elitch Gardens/Waterwold!

Have you tried cloth swim diapers? They are about $15 and can be used over, and over, and over again :) Very cost effective. I use a one-size pocket diaper(Bum Genius), DD has used the same one for 2 summers and now the newbie can use it as well.

I’ll have to look into it! Thanks Ryanne!
