Free Money Friday-College Savings

by erica on August 13, 2010

In an effort to get our financial houses in order I’d like to have a series on how we can make our money work for us.  Don’t worry, it won’t be too complicated or time consuming.  So grab your checkbook, your store loyalty cards and your email contact list and let’s get started…..

I found a great 529 plan that allows you to refer others to get a bonus in your own account.  Use my referral code 2598454 to get an opening bonus of $25 within 7-10 business days from opening.  After opening you can refer your friends and family members with your referral code to collect $25 for your account and they will get $25 for opening.  Minimum to open the account is only $25 and you can be a resident of any state.

I just opened the Sallie Mae high yield savings account through Upromise.  This cost me nothing to open and you can choose to have your Upromise savings transferred automatically every month.  Invite your friends and relatives to help you save and your kids college savings will be growing in no time. You do have the option of cashing out the money that is in your existing Upromise account and using it to fund another account, such as the money making one listed above or below.

Upromise is the smart way to save for college!

Join Sharebuilder through this link www.sharebuilderfriends.com and get $25 FREE.  The minimum to open is $25 so you will double your money.  You will need to pick a stock to invest in but it was so simple I could even do it.  You can refer friends and get free trades for yourself or pick one and stick with it like I have.

If you do all three of these you will spend $50 and have made $100 within just a few weeks assuming you do not have any Upromise savings yet and you do not refer anyone else.  If you have already started Upromise or send out the referrals you will have even more.  Grandparents, Aunt and Uncles can start these accounts too as a very thoughtful gift for the future.
