My beloved and I got treated to a night out last night by my mom.  It was SO NICE and a good chance to get caught up on a lot and relax.  I have a renewed sense of interest in saving for our goals after having time to talk about them. So you might notice me being very strict about the grocery budget in the coming weeks. For quite some time we have been at $75 per week and spending about $100 more per month more at Sam’s for meat but I am going to try hard to get it down to $50. That would give us an extra $100 per month to go towards saving. About ten minutes after we got home it quickly became apparent that Jake has the flu and we spent the rest of the night taking turns changing bed sheets. Did I mention we haven’t hooked up the washer at the new house and the dryer is gas so we either have to hire a plumber to run a gas line or buy an electric dryer. And that is moving up on the priority list REALLY quickly since there are no clean linens or pajamas any more:).

I’m planning my usual Sprouts run on Wednesday during soccer which is usually about $25 and everything else will need to last for the week- no emergency trips to the store. Since eggs were cheap we will be having egg salad sandwiches for lunch and the ground chicken will go to tacos with those $.49 shells and another dinner from what is in the pantry.  The frozen soup mix should make two pots for less than $2.50 each with leftovers and pasta & canned tomatoes thrown in ($1.14 & $1.16) and will leave leftovers for lunches. I have developed a really bad habit of stopping for fast food between all the kids activities so that has to stop too.  I’m breaking out the cooler and committing to plan ahead a bit so it will be packed and the fries won’t be so tempting…..I hope. But my ten year old is grounded for the foreseeable future that my drive me into needing a little fried comfort food! I’m taking an informal poll to find out what the longest anyone has ever grounded their child for.  Right now I’m thinking ten years feels about right for the offense but will admit that could be just a bit excessive.  Or not?

The most I grounded my child for was two weeks and usually gave in after one week. I don’t think she ever served the full sentence and she turned out fine. Actually she turned out pretty well considering she was raised by a single parent for the most part. I’m proud of the good person and parent she is. ;)

Thanks! I’m trying to avoid some of the bone-head things I did that you never found out about with my kids, lol. Jake is probably cause a lot of 3 am tow truck calls despite what we do, lol. At least A might have some common sense by the time she is fully grown.
