The Safeway 30% off didn’t work exactly as I planned. Basically the store coupon items like the Foster Farms chicken, the pies and the Safeway vegetables did not get the coupon discount and the 30% so you will want to keep that in mind and decide which is the better value. Since I used so many overlapping coupons my receipt is a bit of a challenge to read so it may not be a perfect accounting. I had a very nice cashier and am happy with the total even if it wasn’t exactly what I expected. To simplify the checkout I put all the freezer items on the belt first, then had the 30% off scanned after all the freezer items then did the rest of the order, separating all the red sticker items to ensure they were scanned at half off since I seem to get overcharged on those every time.

The Gartrell/470 store had a ton of markdowns- lots of Gerber, Visine, vitamins, organic foods, Cover Girl and more. I could have spent a lot longer there but used my envelope instead of the full binder so I missed a few good deals for the sake of traveling light:)

Ok- normally we don’t eat quite this much junk food but I guess if you are going to buy it you should save some money at least! Convenience foods are normally not a good use of your food budget but I did need some easy things to prepare with the busy schedules around here. Spent $50, saved $133 and earned gas rewards.  I’m guessing this is about 15 quick lunches,  five soccer night dinners and at least a weeks worth of breakfast and snack items. I bought chicken for $1.77 lb and some produce at Sprouts and we will need buns for the BBQ meat but won’t need much else for next week.
