A Post From My Mom:)
This is a copy of my Xcel bill I wanted to share with your readers at DenverMetroMoms. I signed up for the service that allows Xcel to add a Saver Switch unit to my power meter and I receive a $40.00 credit on my bill in October. The unit regulates your A/C on the really hot days. It may increase the temp in you home by a couple of degrees. I never noticed it. It’s free and you get $40.00 savings once a year. This month, I will be paying $6.99! I know most people have a bigger place that my two bedroom condo, but getting $40.00 credit will give you a sense of savings for that month. -Vicki
I didn’t include her actual bill but it’s very exciting so save that much money on utilities. We had the saver switch at the last house that the previous residents installed but haven’t signed up for one at the new house. I suspect the fact that our house was signed up for the program was what triggered the awesome gift box I got last summer from Xcel. It had a dozen low energy bulbs, new shower heads and all kinds of tools to help us save money. Get more information here.
And, if you haven’t already- it’s time to winterize your sprinkler system. I always LOVE shutting that thing down and thinking about all the money we will save on water and time saved not having to mow for a few months.
Also, Colorado LEAP starts on November 1st. It is an energy assistance program for people with very low incomes (isn’t that most of us these days?, lol) and provides payments directly to your electric company during the high use months.
