On a side note, we just went on our second annual “Extreme Family Vacation”. We decided to stay at YMCA Rockies this year which turned out to be a great value. We paid $199 per night for a three bedroom private cabin that could have slept at least seven people comfortably. It had a kitchen so we were able to save a little on dining out and splurged on the steak chuck wagon dinner/sunset horseback ride which was amazing ($50 per person). Paying for the cabin gives you most of the activities free- such as swimming, skating, hiking, mini golf and more. We did pay extra for the zip-line, archery and horseback riding but it was well worth it. The second day we only had a ten minute drive from the cabin to Winter Park where we spent the entire day at the Alpine Slide. We bought a four pack of tickets for $140 at King Soopers in advance instead of paying $45 at the park. I think we went down the slide at least twenty five times (it costs about $15 for one ride if you purchase separately) and got to do bungee-jumping and the bounce house a few times too. There is mountain biking but we were out of time and energy so we didn’t try it this year- maybe next time!
We tend to prefer shorter vacations and are striving to do a short trip every month the kids are out of school. On the agenda is the Peach Festival- I’m hoping it goes better than last year and I think we can plan a weekend around this rafting- I’ve never done it and it looks like a blast. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
