The Kroger soup vegetables are a staple for us and at $.77 instead of $1.49 it was time to stock up. We use one to two bags, add spices and canned tomatoes plus whatever left over beef or chicken and other veggies we have on hand. I add pasta for the kids but keep it in a separate pot so the soup will freeze better. If I have any beans I’ll put those in too and my husband prefers it with rice. It’s a easy way to use up leftovers and costs $1-$2 per pot.
Here is a frugal tip for you- the marked down bread is usually $.39-$.50 per loaf but you have to use it quickly. If you find yourself with bread that is not perfectly fresh you can always do a quick bulk/freezer cooking session and make up pb&j’s and save in freezer. Another idea is to make up a large batch of french toast and flash freeze for fast weekday breakfasts.
