School started for us last week. My daughter started Middle School and my son started Pre-School- big milestones for both. And as planned, they will both start soccer next week with a week of karate overlapping which was mostly unplanned. Amber has always been one of those kids that likes to do everything possible and seems to take it all in stride. Last year was soccer, scouts, intramural sports and choir which I thought was a lot. She called her dad from school last week and told him she had joined the track team (oh, and send a check, please) in addition to PE as an elective. This is her first competitive sport. Since my husband ran track in high school and so did my father we were are beaming with pride. Practice is four days a week and by Friday I had one very exhausted girl on my hands. I felt so bad for her (and still so proud!) that I have taken up doing her chores for her which is wearing me out too. I am curious how we are going to survive this new schedule. Mondays we will have ten minutes to get from track to soccer and figure out how to make up Monday’s karate class while getting Jake to his karate class when he will be all wiped out from school. Wednesday’s will be the same expect no track but karate and soccer same time, different places. Friday is a make up karate class and track, and possibly my nervous breakdown. Then we need to find some time to eat, sleep, do homework, get to the choir performances and wash all those stinky uniforms. And she wants to play volleyball too.
Here’s Jake with his soccer bag on his head. I don’t know why. He has been been wearing his soccer uniform for weeks just in case. He even sleeps in it- I’ve never met a kid so excited to play soccer!
I realized quickly that dinner just isn’t going to happen unless we developed a better plan than stopping at Little Ceasar’s every night on the way home. I made the usual big pot of rice, 8 lbs of chicken and assembled two casseroles. With the meat already cooked it should make it easy to fill up a taco shell, tortilla or bun quickly and be back out on the road- I’m hoping anyways….
How was your week?
