Hi Danielle!
I just did some research online and apparently the Shutterfly promo codes are account specific, which means that not everyone can use all promo codes.
Remember that I tried using the code PRINTS to get my free 50 4×6 and it didn’t work for me but you were able to use it? My friend tried using the code SUMMERBOOK to get the photo book for free and it didn’t work for her, but worked for me… Go figure.
Well, I figure I would let you know in case someone contacts you about the SUMMERBOOK code.
Have a great night!

OfficeMax has a few back to school deals this week — 1 penny for notebook paper, 5 cents for rulers, 10 cents for pencils. I think I got single-subject notebooks yesterday for 5 or 10 cents each.

I’m really gung ho to start cutting coupons and saving some money. Do you have a suggestion as to a good coupon holder that will hold all the coupons in their categories?

erica August 23, 2010 at 2:39 pm

This is really going to be a matter of personal preference. A lot of “professional” couponers swear by using a binder and base-ball card holder style inserts. Some use a photo storage box. I have used the plastic sectioned divider thing that I once used at work. It is much larger than a typical coupon holder that you buy at your craft store for a buck. It’s super durable and has about thirty sections. It has served my needs well (picture to follow at some point!) for a year and I just recently moved to the binder method. When I go throught my stores weekly ads I then move my coupons out of the section in the binder or holder and put them in an envelope with the store’s name on the front. That way I am not taking very much with me into the (especially if I have kids in tow) and will only get what I planned for. Then if I see a really amazing deal I can go to the binder that I left in the car. A word of advice, whatever method you choose make sure it closes. I bought plastic pages for my binder because I was too cheap to invest in base-ball card pages. Picked it up upside down the othernight and had all my coupons fall out and had to chase them around in the parking lot. I still have not reassembled it and all the precious coupons I was able to save are sitting in a bucket, expiring as I write this. Some of the serious coupon sites sell their own binders and you can also find some premade on Ebay. If you choose to do your own consider how much you are willing to carry and how comfortable you are with everyone seeing your set up. A binder does drawn some attention whereas a smaller holder could fit into your reusable shopping bag (that’s how I do it). It terms of collecting coupons, do a google search of the items you use most and send an email to the manufacturer to get coupons through the mail. Also check Ebay. You can get full inserts or just coupons for a single product. I think we will do a post soon about getting started and organizing with coupons so keep an eye out for it. Let us know how you do.

erica September 7, 2010 at 10:34 am

Todd,

I am so sorry we haven’t met yet. I have taken over the site form Danielle as her family has moved away from the area. I will absolutely mention your sale and any other goodies you have come up. I have worked with other kid’s consignment stores and have to say yours is the easiest to deal with! I am still learning my way around the site but feel free to send me any photos or graphics you would like me to use.

Hi Erica! You ever think about doing a local couponing class? I am horrifically intimidated by the whole thing and a class/tutorial, etc would be awesome. Even if we had to pay for it the cost in the long run would be nice!

Just a thought!

Juls January 27, 2011 at 8:27 pm

Was wondering if you knew of any coupon clipping sites that are local or at least close to Colorado? I have used thecouponclippers.com, but the coupons take too long to get here from Florida.

King soopers here in Littleton CO. said that the no longer will take more than 3 coupons on a product…for example if you are going to buy 10 for 10 on toothpaste and have 10 coupons they will only take 3…making getting them for free not an option any more…it this new?

erica July 19, 2011 at 5:48 pm

Hey- were you trying to buy 100 tubes and bankrupt the store, lol? Just Kidding! I’ll bet you walked away feeling like a criminal over it, I sure do. I had the same thing happen to me the other day with the Palmolive. I’m looking for a written policy other than a cashier just wanting to mess with you and create rules as they go along. It’s a massive PAIN IN THE REAR when that happens with the buy 10 sales because then you have to scramble and get over charged which I guess is their plan. Nothing irks me more than getting overcharged by $4.50 because the last $.49 item didn’t get scanned. I’m leaning to the idea that Kroger is just not coupon friendly and they want us to take our business elsewhere. Wouldn’t it be nice to find a little consistancy between the stores? The buy 10 events are such a joke for the average shopper but you can save a lot of money if you have the patience to do it. I learned from a reader to always look for the young male cashiers as they are less likely to be difficult. If you do get the nasty hag that hates her life and don’t have your kids along driving you crazy just smile and say fine- split the transactions. If you have the time-make them suffer for their stupid rules. Really, you could spend all night there going from cashier to cashier to use all your coupons and you will still make more money in that time than they will. It’s just unfortunate that Kroger had decided to offend such a large percentage of their loyal shoppers if they are planning to enforce this policy. Springs Bargains has the policy here http://springsbargains.com/print-coupons/store-coupon-policies/king-soopers-faq/
and as you will see a lot of the so-called policies are not widely enforced. For example, how would be know what they consider to be the appropriate ratio of value to item, reading that would tell me that they should not have accepted my $2 Wisk item for the Wisk that was the specified size and on sale for only $3.49. That is the biggest problem with a lot of these stores- cashiers are not properly trained and the discretion is largely theirs so if they are having a bad day, your check out costs more than it did last week. Does anyone else think this is backlash from “Extreme Couponing” displaying how to commit fraud with coupons? Most of us “reasonable” people are not buying more than a sales cycle worth anyways! Ten tubes of toothpaste for a family is not unreasonable! It will last a few months at most and if they keep you happy you will be back every week buying other items that they make more profit on. Something they seem to be forgetting is that they send these coupons back to the manufacturer and get PAID for what we purchased, a lot more than what they paid to get the item to the store. Grrrrr!
Maybe we should start a little underground network to compare which cashiers to go to. I’ve actually said no to certain ones that try to get me out of a longer line. No thank you, Coupon-Colonel’s! I think the majority of us do our best to follow the rules but it is hard when there is always a moving target with the cashiers. Will I see you at King Soopers tonight at midnight collecting toothpaste? I’m going for the Palmolive- 3 at a time:)

I am subscribed to Weekly Plus and have taken advantage of two great deals. Lately I receive your email with a deal and I am unable to open it to sign up for the deal. I click the “click to open browser” but it doesn’t work. I’ve gone directly to you web site and can’t find the weekly deal there either. Is there some way you can enable links for me or is it my computer? Most of similar web sites will open links but yours won’t.
Thanks,
Jeanne Rasmussen

erica September 8, 2011 at 10:45 am

Jeanne,

Thank you so much for letting me know. I’m going to try it from a different computer since mine has cookies stored I can’t replicate your problem. Hopefully we can get it figured out and not have you miss out on any of those great Weekly Plus deals. Which particular ones were you ooking for? I might be able to send the links to you by emal and see if that works. I have had issues with my Outlook sending links incorrectly but maybe it will work if I send it from Yahoo. Sometimes it works for me when I forward myself the newsletters and open from a different email source (like Yahoo or gmail).

How do you get the e coupon and manufacturer coupon to come off at king soopers?

Donna Bryant November 6, 2011 at 4:48 pm

Where can I find coupons for Pampers and Dog food?

erica November 6, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Any specific brand for the dog food? This is the database I like http://moneysavingmom.com/print-coupons/coupon-database?couponname=dog food&cvalue=&sourcedate=&source=0&expired=0
just type in the name of the product and you get all current coupons. Petsmart & Petco both have good coupons you can stack if you shop there. We buy are hamster food at Petsmart because they mark it down 50% when it gets close to expiration then we stack with coupons. You may want to get friendly with a cahier there and ask them to call you when your brand is marked down and buy all you can. We keep it tightly wrapped and in the fridge until needed and haven’t had any issues with freshness. My daughter did some research and may start getting some items in bulk at Sprouts to stretch the food boxes out. Pampers send out a lot of mail if you sign up- I never had enough waiting for them to come out in the paper so I digned up all my family members and got a PO box for extra coupons. Kroger has some Pampers ecoupons right now but if you can stack them with manufacturer coupon will depend on your cashier.

erica November 6, 2011 at 5:25 pm

The cashier has the option of declining your paper coupons if they notice you have ecoupons come off. You can always go to customer service if you notice the Kroger ecoupon did not come off and they can look it up and give you the cash. If your Cellfire or others don’t come off you can email them and they will send you a reimbursement check.

CeeCee January 1, 2012 at 6:36 am

Erica,
I was wondering which Albertson’s you shop at…I’m asking because I’d like to start shopping there. I have 2 close to me, and they are so awful about accepting coupons, let alone stacking BOGOs. It’s gotten so bad that I have to double check the receipt before I leave the store. Lately when they are doubling coupons, they “forget” to double them…then hold up the line and read every single coupon (even on mulitiples) to verify that it states that said coupon may actually be doubled. A couple of days before Christmas I purchase 13 items and it took over 15 minutes to get through check out…15 minutes!!! It doesn’t do any good to complain or state the corporate policy (because store managers have final say).

Don’t get me wrong…I love shopping at Albertson’s. I’ve shopped their for over 20 years, but these 2 stores are just too coupon unfriendly.

Please tell me where you shop because that store sounds like they treat couponers with some respect.

Carol Jean Gilbert January 28, 2012 at 1:28 pm

Please, contact me. I would like to purchase a particular item that has recently been on Hautelook and is no longer available on that site. I would like to know how I can purchase it.
Thank you.
